Founded by Alistair Johnson, the business is built on more than 20 years of hospitality spa experience developing, operating, and delivering successful wellness projects. Having owned and operated the Aquae Sulis spa brand alongside developing an international skincare line, Alistair combines commercial consultancy, operational expertise and luxury spa development knowledge with a deep understanding of guest experience.
Today, Spa Creators brings together a team of specialists across consultancy, design, operations, and development to guide projects from concept through to opening — creating beautifully designed spa businesses that are commercially robust and built for long-term success.
Alistair Johnson
Managing Director
With a background in IT, Alistair has a wealth of experience in commercial business consultancy. Using these skills, he took on the spa brand Aquae Sulis and developed a boutique spa for Ickworth Hotel, part of the Luxury Family Hotels family. This gave him the taste of developing spas and led to a career in spa design and development establishing the company. When he is not charging around the world working on exciting spa projects Alistair can be found in the Thames swimming or spending an afternoon spoiling a good walk with his golf clubs.
Nick Winfield
Senior Projects Designer
Nick has a degree in furniture design, which has allowed him to work in super yacht interior design and on the creation of architectural sculptural stair cases with organic form. He has also turned his creative flair to many high-end boutique retail window displays in London and Europe. Nick has worked for Spa Creators for over four years, and when he’s not at work he can be seen cruising the Oxfordshire countryside on his motorbike.
Vera Ralph
Senior Interior Designer
Vera’s degree in interior designer has led her onto an exciting career designing bars and restaurants around the UK. With an interest in wellness Vera is now focusing on her passion to indulge in spa and wellbeing. She is passionate creative, practical yet innovative in looking at spaces that interacts with the user in different ways. Vera also enjoys a good game of tennis and swimming. Vera has launched a series of books for children in Swahili.
Katy Harris
Senior Interior Designer
With a master’s degree in wellbeing for Interior Design, Katy is driven to creating lifestyle spaces promoting health and wellbeing. With a successful career in high end residential developments, Katy has been involved in London apartment schemes, high-end catering, cinema, yoga and fitness projects.
Drawing on this wealth of experience, Katy will be leaving her mark on the wellness spa market. Katy has a passion for old buildings and their history and can be found marching around national trust sites, her favourite being Osborne house on the Isle of Wight.
Samantha Day
Senior Interior Designer
Sam has joined SPA Creators after her graduation at Bournemouth University of Arts with a 1st class honours degree in Interior Architecture & Design. With a focus on sustainable building design Sam brings her expertise in innovative space planning within existing buildings including historic properties. A very arty and fun approach to life Sam will be sprinkling her youth and creativity on her spa creations. When not at her computer Sam can be found pounding the treadmill at her luxury health club or on the streets visiting galleries to find the next piece of inspiration.
