The Opportunity

Set within one of Cornwall’s most iconic coastal locations, privately owned Carbis Bay Hotel sought to create a luxury spa experience that reflected its exceptional waterfront setting and strengthen its position as a leading wellness destination. The hotel owners had secured planning permission for a new spa development but recognised that specialist spa expertise was needed to maximise the opportunity. While the architectural concept was established, the proposed layout lacked the operational flow, guest journey, and commercial strategy required to create a successful destination spa. The objective was to develop a distinctive spa offering that would reduce the reliance on seasonality.

Our Solution

SPA Creators reimagined the internal layout to create a seamless and intuitive guest journey designed around the spectacular coastal setting, with wellness experiences carefully positioned to maximise the panoramic sea views.

Key features included:

• A signature Ocean Spa Pool constructed using eco-friendly and recyclable materials to create a striking focal point
• A heated outdoor pool overlooking the Atlantic coastline with 2 panoramic barrel saunas
• Bespoke Thomas Bramwell-designed chairs, ergonomically crafted to enhance relaxation while enjoying the sea views
• A luxury relaxation lounge featuring uninterrupted views across Carbis Bay Beach, complemented by a contemporary Norwegian bio-ethanol fireplace for year-round comfort
• Integrated treatment, hydrotherapy, relaxation and social spaces designed to increase dwell time and increase guest engagement
• A Champagne Bar linked to manicure and pedicure services created additional opportunities for guest spend and social wellness experiences

The Result

• A compelling wellness proposition that opened the hotel to the growing wellness tourism market
• A new spa revenue stream through day spa access and protection of room rates by adding value through integrated spa experiences
