Lion Quays Hotel & Spa

Set in the stunning Shropshire countryside, Lion Quays Resort provides an amazing waterside setting for one of the UK’s luxury spa escapes. The facility is multi award winning and a very successful spa business. Following a business review by the owners and management team, it was felt this was the right time to embark on a refurbishment and redesign to lift the business to the next stage in its life.

SPA Creators were approached to review the current facilities and make design recommendations. It was identified that the already popular group bookings market could be capitalised on with dedicated spa suites with treatment suite, lounge and spa gardens.

After some initial concept designs were presented, a full detailed design was completed including a full interior scheme by the expert team at SPA Creators.

Reviewing the building resulted in re-engineered the layout to create new wellness spaces, time was spent on improving the guest flow and creating spaces for groups to enjoy. Alistair Johnson commented ‘my team and I wanted to create a luxury spa experience that delivered unique features that provided the wow factor to guests whilst generating revenue and a ROI.’

The implementation of the building changes has been broken into several phases allowing the business to remain open, an important requirement by Lion Quays owner.

Phase 1 of the development will include three spa suites, new changing areas, salt flotation therapy, relaxation lounges including a gravity room with wellness massage chairs. The new spa lounge will offer a dedicated space for spa guests with a light food and beverage offering. The emphasis on the interiors is to create luxury whilst maintaining function and form.

Within Phase 2, a boulevard will be created on the ground floor to operate alongside café Ash allowing guests to shop and enjoy a boutique for manicure and pedicure. In addition, a facial play zone will be created allowing guests skincare education and the opportunity to purchase their favourite Decleor or Carita skincare products.

Phase 3 will see the peak of creativity with a state-of-the-art thermal suite which will take guests on a world journey with experience rooms taking inspiration from cultures and healing sources to create a true spa destination. This thermal zone will boast experiences not available anywhere in the UK making it the most unique offering for guests to enjoy.

Phase 4 completes the design with the leisure entrance creating a WOW statement with new stairs, reception and a grand luxury feel to finish off the overall offering.

The plans are that Phase 1 will be completed in the summer 2020 and the following phases rolled out in a timely manner over the coming months inline with the business operations. SPA Creators have been contracted to deliver the scheme in conjunction with the main contractor Chase Construction.
